Main Street Day Success!

This Main Street Day was a huge smash--we just got back. The weather was perfect, if just a little too blowy...like, nearly took out tent with it, blowy.

But we came out definitively on top. Thanks to Susan for the tent, Nancy for the cookies, and Loudres for everything. Oh, and the Mewshaws, Cookie, Ron, Nicholas, Mary Ann, Chuck, and John. Huge fun!

Deal with the Bitty Devil

I call them 'Bitty Devils.' I think they're actually quite cute. The idea came from a brief infatuation my father had with the idea of making a beanie baby with a slightly more, shall we say, sarcastic edge. He made up a prototype of a 'Wish Devil,' a tiny satanic stuffed toy that has been converted into a Christmas tree ornament. I was looking for a new toy design and...voila! Bitty Devils. The blue one is Mr. Doherty and the red one is Mr. Monocle. They're both available on Etsy.

Also, a little polymer clay jewelry has come up: behold the latest. Pengers.

HURR CUTECUTECUTE

I've been in a super-kawaii mood lately. Usually my crafts have a slightly creepy or gothy vibe to them, but for the past few weeks everything I've touched has turned adorable. Not Sanrio, but still noticeably cute. So I've been making flower barrettes. Because what is cuter than a girl with cute hair? A girl with cute hair with cute flowers in that cute hair. I am a master of marketing I tell you.

This is the first batch. There are 11 there, with a lot of pink. I got my underling/slave/mater to cut out some circles to get this party started, and she only cut pink. I am not so hot on the pink, but it's a good color to have. From a marketing perspective, it's important to have a variety of color schemes, to appeal to more customers. I wouldn't make that many pink anythings on my own, so it's good to be forced to make so many now. Now (as in, second and third batches) I can make them in colors I actually enjoy.

You'll notice a black, white, and red barrette. It's not the only one. I'm sort of in love with that color scheme. There will probably be a large supply of blackwhitered things. I blame The White Stripes. (wat do you mean gothy? shaddap)

Covered in Glue--Is this any way to run a business?

Working on altered book drawers, for personal use but hopefully also to be used to sell plenty of jewelry (hint hint). Tape, tacky glue, tape, tacky glue--it is not a pretty thing. See right for carnage. I'm a neat person. Promise.

Plus, I've been collecting books on craft businesses and uh, crafts. It's getting a little crowded in here. But I persevere, as usual.

I'm going to try to work on a plush bird/reptile of some sort. The stuffed bunnies are multiplying like--oh, wait.

And my U key broke. It's been an interesting day.
